Josh Allen struggles

After Aaron Rodgers went down with an Achilles tendon injury early in his debut with the New York Jets, the Buffalo Bills seemingly had an easy path to a season-opening win at MetLife Stadium.

They didn't count on Pro Bowl quarterback Josh Allen messing things up with one of his worst games in the NFL, turning the ball over four times.

Allen threw three interceptions and lost a fumble late in the fourth quarter of what became a 22-16 overtime loss. The Jets walked it off thanks to a 65-yard punt return by rookie Xavier Gipson.

Aaron Rodgers out for the Season

An MRI confirmed New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers will miss the rest of the season due to a torn left Achilles tendon, sources told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

The four-time MVP suffered the injury in Monday night's win over the Buffalo Bills. He was carted off from his Jets debut after a sack during New York's opening drive.

Following New York's overtime victory, head coach Robert Saleh said the team will roll with former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson as its starter for the rest of the year.

Will Mike Trout request trade

The Los Angeles Angels could be in for a franchise-altering offseason.

With Shohei Ohtani set to become a free agent, the club is open to moving outfielder Mike Trout in the event he requests a trade, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports.

Selected by the Angels with the 25th pick in the 2009 MLB Draft, Trout has spent his entire 13-year career in Anaheim. He's won three AL MVP awards but has only appeared in three postseason games and none since 2014.

Trout signed a 12-year, $430-million extension in 2019. He's signed through 2030 and is still owed roughly $260 million as of the start of next season.

Luis Rubiales suspended for kissing Jenni Hermoso

FIFA suspended Luis Rubiales as president of Spain's football federation on Saturday for kissing Women's World Cup player Jenni Hermoso on the lips, while even his close friend Jorge Vilda joined the tidal wave of criticism.

The move by world football's governing body was the latest development in a deepening row pitting Rubiales and the federation (RFEF) against Hermoso and her Spain teammates, which the players say has tarnished the glory of winning the World Cup in Australia last Sunday.

Phil Mickelson gambling on Ryder Cup

Phil Mickelson's gambling habits are no secret, but an excerpt in Golf Digest from Billy Walters' upcoming book "Gambler: Secrets from a Life at Risk" reveals just how serious things got.

Walters, one of the most successful sports bettors of all time, formed a gambling partnership with Mickelson for five years up until the spring of 2014.

Walters claims he received a call from Mickelson in September 2012 while the latter was set to compete in the 39th Ryder Cup at Medinah Country Club. Mickelson was feeling extraordinarily confident that the U.S. team led by him and Tiger Woods could beat the European squad after losing in 2010. Walters says Mickelson asked him to place a $400,000 bet for him on the American team to win.

"Have you lost your fucking mind?" Walters remembers telling him. "Don't you remember what happened to Pete Rose? You're seen as a modern-day Arnold Palmer. You'd risk all that for this? I want no part of it."

"Alright, alright," Mickelson replied, according to Walters.
