DaRon Bland suffers foot injury

Dallas Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland has a foot injury that could sideline him a couple of games, the team reported on its website Wednesday.

Bland showed up on the injury report Wednesday, and the issue with his right foot is unrelated to the stress fracture in his left foot that sidelined Bland for the first 10 games last season.

The injury to Bland comes after Trevon Diggs played in the opener coming off his second major knee injury in two seasons. Diggs played in 43% of the snaps in the 24-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last week.

Jack Eichel ready to re-sign in Vegas

Jack Eichel insists he's consumed by the day-to-day existence of an NHL star, single-mindedly focused on preparing for his 11th season.

At the same time, the Golden Knights center says he's the type of person who doesn't need to push aside potential distractions as the season ramps up. Eichel, a pending unrestricted free agent, would in fact love to sign a contract extension with Vegas and has no issues with negotiating during the season.

Lamar Jackson offers apology to fan

Lamar Jackson offered an apology to the fan he shoved during Sunday night's loss to the Buffalo Bills.

"It just happened," the Baltimore Ravens signal-caller said Wednesday, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "I got pushed. I'm like, what? I wasn't even thinking about me being out there on the field. My apologies to him."

However, Jackson advised the fan, who shoved him and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins after a third-quarter touchdown, to not cross the line between trash talk and physical contact.

Brock Purdy status still unclear for Sunday

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan didn't express optimism regarding quarterback Brock Purdy's status for Sunday.

Travis Kelce accepts blame for Worthy injury

Star tight end Travis Kelce is taking full accountability for a miscue that injured Kansas City Chiefs teammate Xavier Worthy during last week's game in Sao Paulo against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Worthy dislocated his shoulder on the Chiefs' first offensive drive of the regular season after colliding with Kelce while each player was running a crossing route in the opposite direction. Worthy was taken out of the game and did not return.

"I wasn't ready that first drive. I ran into one of my guys and offed him out of the game," Kelce said about the collision on the "New Heights" podcast. "I literally took one of my players out. That's one of the most frustrating parts. It's hard to get your juices back going knowing that you just hurt a guy."

Kirill Kaprizov rejected $128M offer

Minnesota Wild star Kirill Kaprizov rejected an eight-year, $128-million extension Tuesday, sources told insider Frank Seravalli.

The contract would have been the biggest in NHL history in total money and average annual value ($16 million), Seravalli notes.

Kaprizov is set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer and became eligible to sign an extension July 1. Last week, Wild owner Craig Leipold said he was confident they would reach an agreement soon and predicted that Kaprizov's contract will likely be the richest deal in league history.
