Trae Young out with MCL injury

Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young is out at least four weeks after sustaining a sprained MCL in his right knee, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.

Young reportedly underwent an MRI on Friday that revealed the injury.

The All-Star guard suffered the ailment during Wednesday's contest against the Brooklyn Nets when he collided with teammate Mouhamed Gueye.

Blue Jays pay tribute to Alex Vesia

The Toronto Blue Jays have joined their counterparts on the Los Angeles Dodgers in paying tribute to Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia during the World Series.

Vesia is away from the team because of a "deeply personal family matter," the Dodgers said in a statement posted on social media before Game 1. Pitchers on the Dodgers have been playing with Vesia's No. 51 on the side of their caps.

In a show of solidarity, Blue Jays relievers have started doing the same thing. Toronto's Chris Bassitt, Seranthony Domínguez, Mason Fluharty and Louis Varland all had the No. 51 written on the side of their caps in Friday's Game 6, a 3-1 Dodgers win that forced Game 7.

Shohei Ohtani will start Game 7 World Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers will turn to three-time MVP Shohei Ohtani to start Game 7 of the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday.

Ohtani last pitched in Game 4 on Tuesday, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six over six innings as the starter. He threw 93 pitches in the loss.

Elias Lindholm out with lower body injury

Boston Bruins center Elias Lindholm will miss at least a few weeks with a lower-body injury, coach Marco Sturm said Friday.

Lindholm was helped off the ice after a collision with Buffalo's Jordan Greenway in the Bruins' 4-3 overtime victory Thursday. The 30-year-old Swede has nine points (four goals, five assists) in 13 games.

Marat Khusnutdinov, who scored the OT winner against the Sabres, is set to center Boston's top line against Carolina on Saturday. The Russian is in his first full season with Boston. He has a goal and an assist in eight games.

Devils sign Jacob Markstrom

The New Jersey Devils signed goaltender Jacob Markstrom to a two-year contract extension with a $6-million cap hit, the team announced Friday.

Markstrom went 26-16-6 and posted a .900 save percentage in his first campaign with the Devils last season. He was named to Sweden's roster at the 4 Nations Face-Off but was unable to compete due to injury.

The 35-year-old sports an .830 SV% through four starts this year. He allowed eight goals on 42 shots in a 8-4 loss against the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday after missing six games due to a lower-body injury.

Max Scherzer starts Game 7 World Series

Max Scherzer is about to become the only living pitcher to start a winner-take-all World Series Game 7 for a second time.

Baseball will have its ultimate game Saturday night when Scherzer and the Toronto Blue Jays play the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are trying to become the first team to win consecutive titles since the 1998-2000 New York Yankees won three in row.

Los Angeles had been expected to start Tyler Glasnow before he closed out a 3-1 victory in Game 6. The 6-foot-8 right-hander is likely still available, but manager Dave Roberts could also start Shohei Ohtani for 2-4 innings on short rest.
