LeBron James has entered the exclusive billionaire club.

The Los Angeles Lakers star's net worth is estimated to be $1 billion, according to Forbes' Chase Peterson-Withorn. James is now the first active NBA player to accumulate a billion-dollar net worth during his playing career.

Adam Silver not discussing NBA expansion


NBA commissioner Adam Silver shot down rumblings Thursday about potential league expansion.

"The talk of expansion after 2024 is not true. We are not discussing that at this time," Silver told reporters ahead of Game 1 of The Finals between the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors

Jayson Tatum sets assist record


Jayson Tatum's NBA Finals debut Thursday was a bit of a mixed bag.

The Boston Celtics star went just 3-of-17 for 12 points but made up for his scoring struggles by providing one of the best playmaking performances of his young career.

Tatum's 13 assists in the Celtics' Game 1 win set an NBA record for most dimes by a player making his Finals debut.

Brady and Rodgers beat Mahomes and Allen


Experience won out in the latest edition of The Match, as Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers edged Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen in NFL celebrity golf action at Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Rodgers ended it on the 12th and final hole, stuffing his tee shot to within 15 feet and then draining the tough birdie putt to avoid a playoff and secure the victory.

Marion Barber III found dead at 38


Marion Barber III, the former Dallas Cowboys running back who scored plenty of touchdowns, has died, the team said Wednesday. He was 38.

Barber played a final season with Chicago in 2011 after spending his first six years with the Cowboys. He had issues with mental health after his career.

Filip Chytil has found his scoring touch


Filip Chytil has found his scoring touch and it's helping the New York Rangers get on quite a roll.

Chytil scored twice in the second period and the Rangers routed the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2 on Wednesday night in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals.

Montreal hire Martin St. Louis as Head Coach


The Montreal Canadiens named Martin St. Louis the 32nd head coach in franchise history on Wednesday, dropping the interim tag he was assigned this past winter.

St. Louis signed a three-year deal through the 2024-25 season.

Josh Donaldson: Time to shut up!


Josh Donaldson was hurt when New York Yankees teammates didn't back him after he made a remark to White Sox star Tim Anderson about Jackie Robinson that Chicago manager Tony La Russa called racist.

Donaldson was suspended for one game by Major League Baseball for making multiple references to Robinson while talking to Anderson on May 21. Donaldson has appealed the discipline.

Jon Cooper doesn't appear to expect injured star Brayden Point back during this round of the playoffs.

"We're planning to play without him," the Tampa Bay Lightning head coach said Wednesday, according to team beat writer Chris Krenn. "If he gets to play in this series, that's a bonus for everybody."
