Kawhi Leonard heading back to the Raptors

The Los Angeles Clippers are nearing a trade to send Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, two first-round picks, one pick swap, and two second-rounders.

The right to swap picks is for 2027, according to Charania. Toronto is reportedly sending unprotected first-rounders in 2031 and 2033, and the second-round selections are in 2030 and 2033.

Ducks sign Greer to 4 Years

The Anaheim Ducks are signing forward A.J. Greer to a four-year contract with a $4.25-million cap hit.

The Ducks acquired Greer's signing rights from the Florida Panthers on Monday for the signing rights to defenseman Radko Gudas.

Greer recorded 17 goals and 32 points in 78 games last season. He also had 113 penalty minutes and 203 hits.

Contreras throws helmet at Cavalli

It was fight night at Fenway on Tuesday, as the Boston Red Sox and Washington Nationals cleared benches and brawled after Red Sox first baseman Willson Contreras exchanged words with Nationals starter Cade Cavalli.

Contreras responded to Cavalli, who appeared to yell "Sit down, boy" at the Red Sox slugger following a strikeout. Contreras then broke free of Nats catcher Keibert Ruiz, who was holding him back, and threw his helmet at Cavalli in the middle of the scrum.

LeBron James is leaving the Lakers

LeBron James will return for a record-extending 24th season but has informed the Los Angeles Lakers that he'll play elsewhere in 2026-27, his agent, Rich Paul, told ESPN's Shams Charania on Tuesday.

Paul recently spoke with Lakers president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka about James' plans to give Los Angeles a head start on free agency.

Los Angeles reportedly expressed a desire to bring James back, but he opted to move on.

Panthers land Jacob Markstrom from Devils

The Florida Panthers have addressed a glaring hole between the pipes, acquiring veteran netminder Jacob Markstrom from the New Jersey Devils in a five-player deal, the teams announced.

The Panthers are receiving Markstrom and minor-leaguer Angus Crookshank in exchange for forwards Evan Rodrigues, Jesper Boqvist, and Ben Steeves.

Bichette emotional return to Toronto

New York Mets infielder Bo Bichette stepped inside Rogers Centre's first-base dugout Monday, getting a view that he probably hadn't seen before.

"It feels different, for sure," the onetime Toronto Blue Jays star said before facing his former team for the first time, according to SNY. "But I'm excited to get out here and play some ball and see some guys. But it's definitely odd."

Bichette spent his first eight big-league seasons starring for the Blue Jays, who drafted him in the second round in 2016. He rose through Toronto's farm system alongside close friend Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and the pair helped the franchise return to prominence in the 2020s. The union ended when Bichette signed a three-year, $126-million contract with the Mets this past offseason.

Spurs sign Champagnie to 3 year contract

The San Antonio Spurs are signing forward Julian Champagnie to a new three-year, $45-million contract.

Champagnie's deal locks him up through the 2028-29 season. The Spurs declined his $3-million team option to sign him to this new contract.

The 25-year-old played a crucial role in San Antonio's playoff run, averaging 11.2 points and 5.7 rebounds as the Spurs made the Finals.

Wiggins signs 3 years with Miami Heat

Miami Heat forward Andrew Wiggins intends to sign a three-year, $64-million deal to remain with the franchise.

Wiggins' new contract includes a player option for the third season, Charania adds. He opted into his $30.2-million player option for the 2026-27 season and will have a reduced average salary of $17 million for the following two campaigns.

The 31-year-old averaged 15.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists on 47.5% shooting in his first full season with the Heat.

Montreal trades Gallagher to Vancouver

The Montreal Canadiens parted with their longest-serving player on Monday, sending forward Brendan Gallagher to the Vancouver Canucks for future considerations.

The Canadiens retain 50% of Gallagher's $6.5-million cap hit as part of the trade. He's entering the final season of a six-year contract.

Gallagher notched seven goals and 16 assists in 77 games this season. He was a healthy scratch for all but three of Montreal's 19 playoff games.

Sonny Gray loses no hitter in the 8th

Red Sox pitcher Sonny Gray lost his bid for a no-hitter against the New York Yankees when Amed Rosario singled with one out in the eighth inning Sunday night.

Rosario grounded a clean single up the middle on Gray's 97th pitch against his former team. Boston holds a 2-0 lead.

Gray struck out eight and walked one through seven innings as Boston attempted to complete a four-game sweep of its longtime rival.

Scheffler & Hovland: Monday playoff

Scottie Scheffler made an 8-foot par putt on the 18th hole Sunday and pumped his fist with more emotion than he showed all day, just for the right to return Monday at the rain-delayed Travelers Championship to face a sudden-death playoff against Viktor Hovland.

The final round was stopped for 90 minutes as storms moved over the TPC River Highlands, and officials deemed there was not enough daylight for them to start the playoff.

The playoff was to start at 9 a.m. Monday, the first time a PGA Tour went an extra day since The Players Championship last year.

No return date for Aaron Judge yet

The New York Yankees remain in limbo on a date for slugger Aaron Judge to return from a fractured rib, manager Aaron Boone said Sunday.

Boone gave a brief update on Judge before the Yankees wrapped up a four-game series against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Boone said Judge, out since early June with a rib stress fracture, is still awaiting follow-up imaging.

Flyers looking to add Dan Vladar

The Philadelphia Flyers are close to signing goaltender Dan Vladar to a five-year extension with a $5.5-million cap hit.

Vladar is under contract through next season at a $3.35-million cap hit and can't officially ink his new deal until July 1.

The 28-year-old posted a .906 save percentage and a 2.42 goals-against average in a career-high 52 games in his first season with the Flyers. Vladar started all 10 of Philadelphia's playoff contests and had a .922 save percentage with a 2.18 GAA.

Jarvis out 6 months with shoulder surgery

Carolina Hurricanes top-line forward Seth Jarvis had shoulder surgery after the team's Stanley Cup title run and is expected to be out up to six months, a recovery time that could linger into the start of next season, general manager Eric Tulsky said Friday.

Hurricanes pick up John Carlson

The Carolina Hurricanes traded prospect Kyle Masters and the 192nd pick in the 2026 NHL Draft to the Anaheim Ducks for the rights to blue-liner John Carlson, the teams announced Saturday.

Carlson is scheduled for unrestricted free agency on July 1, but the Hurricanes can now sign him to a contract before then. No prearranged agreement is in place between Carlson and the defending Stanley Cup champions.

Robertson rejects massive offer from Kraken

Dallas Stars winger Jason Robertson turned down a massive offer from the Seattle Kraken, nixing a potential sign-and-trade.

The Kraken reportedly presented Robertson with an eight-year deal worth around $15 million annually. It would've made him the second-highest-paid player in the NHL.

Terrion Arnold arrested

Detroit Lions player Terrion Arnold has been arrested in connection to a kidnapping and robbery in Florida and faces felony charges, officials said Wednesday.

Arnold, 23, is accused of being the “primary conspirator” before three men in their late teens were held at gunpoint, battered and pistol-whipped in February in Tampa, the city’s police department said in a statement. Some of their belongings were stolen, police said.

Arnold is facing four counts of a weapon-related charge and four more counts of a charge related to kidnapping, harming or terrorizing, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrest records.

Lakers re-sign Reaves to 4 years

The Los Angeles Lakers have re-signed guard Austin Reaves to a four-year, $185-million maximum contract.

Reaves inks the deal after declining a $14.9-million player option for the 2026-27 season.

The 28-year-old's new contract includes a player option for the final season in 2029-30, according to Charania. It's also the richest deal signed by an undrafted player in NBA history.

Sharks are getting offers for #2 Pick

San Jose Sharks general manager Mike Grier said roughly five teams have been "very consistently serious" in seeing what it would take for the club to trade the No. 2 pick in the NHL draft.

Capitals land Alex Tuch

The Washington Capitals are acquiring forward Alex Tuch from the Buffalo Sabres in a sign-and-trade.

The contract will span eight years and carry a $10.5-million cap hit, reports Friedman. Tuch will become Washington's biggest cap hit, eclipsing Jakob Chychrun's $9 million.

Sharks trade Eklund for 9th overall pick

The Ottawa Senators flipped the No. 9 pick in the 2026 NHL Draft to the San Jose Sharks for a package including winger William Eklund, the teams announced Tuesday.

The Senators also receive forward prospects Kasper Halttunen and Brandon Svoboda as part of the deal.

Eklund tallied 15 goals and 38 assists in 78 games last season, reaching the 50-point mark for the second straight campaign. The 23-year-old is under contract for three more years with a $5.6-million cap hit. He'll be a restricted free agent in 2029 before he can become unrestricted a year later.

Devils trade Nemec to Flames

The New Jersey Devils are trading defenseman Simon Nemec and forward Maxim Tsyplakov to the Calgary Flames for a second-round pick in this week's draft, first-round selections in 2027 and 2028, and prospect Etienne Morin, the teams announced Tuesday.

The first-rounders Calgary is surrendering initially belonged to the Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche. The Flames recouped the picks by dealing Rasmus Andersson and Nazem Kadri this past season.

Nemec is a restricted free agent this offseason and had reportedly requested a trade. The Devils drafted him second overall in 2022, but Nemec struggled to carve out a consistent role on New Jersey's blue line despite beginning his career as a highly touted prospect.

Oilers hire Babcock as next head coach

The Edmonton Oilers officially hired Mike Babcock as their head coach, the team announced Tuesday.

The Oilers also added D.J. Smith as associate coach. Smith most recently served as interim head coach for the Los Angeles Kings during the 2025-26 season. The 49-year-old began his NHL coaching career with Babcock as an assistant with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2015.

Timberwolves trade Julius Randle

The Minnesota Timberwolves are trading Julius Randle and the No. 28 overall pick in the NBA draft to the Brooklyn Nets as part of a three-team trade involving the Chicago Bulls.

Chicago will acquire center Nic Claxton in the deal, while Minnesota is receiving the No. 33 overall pick.

The Timberwolves later used the financial flexibility from the move to re-sign Ayo Dosunmu and can utilize the $15-million non-tax mid-level exception and the $5.5-million biannual exception, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.

Miami Heat land Giannis in blockbuster trade

Giannis Antetokounmpo's 13-year reign with the Milwaukee Bucks is over.

The Bucks agreed to trade Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat for Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks, one pick swap, and one second-rounder.

Miami is reportedly sending the No. 13 overall pick in this year's draft, unprotected first-round selections in 2031 and 2033, a pick swap in 2030, and a second-rounder in 2033.

Alvarez won’t participate in HR Derby

Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez won't participate in this year's Home Run Derby despite leading the American League in round-trippers.

"I'm still open (to participating) but not this year," Alvarez said Sunday. The 28-year-old didn't reveal if he'd been asked to take part in this year's event, which had its format revamped by MLB.

De La Cruz expected to return from injury

Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz is expected to be reinstated from the injured list Tuesday after missing 19 games with a strained right hamstring, manager Terry Francona said Monday.

De La Cruz who has been sidelined since June 1 took batting practice prior to Monday night's series opener against the first-place Brewers. 

He made three rehab starts for Triple-A Louisville going 2 for 8 with a home run and two RBIs. After homering in his first rehab start on Friday, De La Cruz texted Francona, “Be there tomorrow" but the Reds didn't want to rush things.

Celtics looking to land Giannis

The Boston Celtics are going all-in on trying to acquire Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Boston has reportedly made Jaylen Brown available in a potential deal for Antetokounmpo after previously being cautious about including the 29-year-old.

The aggressive approach puts the Celtics alongside the Miami Heat among finalists to land the two-time MVP in a deal that could come together before the NBA draft gets underway Tuesday, Windhorst adds. Miami has been trying to recruit third and fourth teams into a potential trade to improve its offer.

Trae Young looking to sign 4 year contract

Oilers sign Murphy to 5 years

The Edmonton Oilers are signing defenseman Connor Murphy to a five-year contract extension worth $4.1 million per season, the team announced Monday.

Murphy was scheduled to reach unrestricted free agency July 1. The Oilers acquired him from the Chicago Blackhawks prior to this past season's trade deadline for a second-round pick in 2028.

He notched four points in 20 games after the trade and added three points in the playoffs as the Oilers were eliminated by the Anaheim Ducks in the first round.

Gillespie looking at 4 year contract

Wyndham Clark wins U.S. Open

Wyndham Clark reminded us Sunday at Shinnecock Hills there is no such thing as a safe lead in major championship golf.

The 54-hole U.S. Open leader narrowly avoided becoming just the second man since 1934 to blow a six-shot lead in a major championship, outlasting a charging Sam Burns to prevail by one stroke.

After Burns narrowly missed chances to tie Clark on 17 and 18, the 2023 champion pulled off an unlikely birdie from the fescue on No. 16 to move two clear. While he would bogey the 17th, a two-putt par from 52 feet on 18 delivered the victory and saw Clark become just the 24th man ever to win two U.S. Open trophies.

Kraken signs McMann to 6 Years

The Seattle Kraken signed forward Bobby McMann to a six-year extension with a $5.75-million cap hit, the team announced Sunday.

McMann tallied 10 goals and 14 points in 18 games after being acquired by Seattle from the Toronto Maple Leafs at the trade deadline.

The 30-year-old was slated to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Florida Panthers land Brady Tkachuk

First baseman Bryce Harper recorded the first cycle of his illustrious 15-year career after collecting a 2-run triple during the fifth inning of the Phillies' 15-3 win. The eight-time All-Star became the 10th player in Phillies history to accomplish the feat. He singled and doubled in the third after hitting a homer in the first.

Wyndham Clark leading U.S. Open after 36 holes

Wyndham Clark appears to be playing a different golf course than the rest of the field through two rounds of the U.S. Open.

Only 10 players will head to the weekend at Shinnecock Hills under par, but Clark made the iconic layout look pedestrian en route to a 36-hole scoring record of 7-under.

That gives the 2023 champion a four-shot lead through two rounds - the biggest margin at the U.S. Open since 2018, the last time the Long Island course hosted.

Leafs look to sign Raddysh from Lightning

The Toronto Maple Leafs are finalizing a sign-and-trade deal to acquire defenseman Darren Raddysh from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Toronto will sign the 30-year-old to an eight-year contract with an average annual value above $8 million.

Raddysh is coming off a breakthrough 22-goal, 48-assist campaign and was on track to become an unrestricted free agent July 1. The Toronto native also led the Lightning in average ice time at 22:41 per game.

Braves land Joey Bart from Pirates

The Atlanta Braves acquired catcher Joey Bart from the Pittsburgh Pirates for right-handed pitcher Hunter Stratton on Thursday night.

Atlanta made room for Bart on the 40-man roster by designating catcher Sandy León for assignment. The Pirates assigned Stratton to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Bart was batting .259 with two homers, six RBIs and a .670 OPS in 21 games with Pittsburgh. He grew up in the Atlanta suburbs and played college ball in the city at Georgia Tech before being selected second overall by the San Francisco Giants in the 2018 amateur draft.

Garcia out 6-8 months

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Adolis García will undergo surgery to repair a torn lat and could be sidelined for six-to-eight months, the team announced Thursday.

García is expected to be ready for the start of the 2027 campaign.

The 33-year-old exited a game against the Toronto Blue Jays on June 10 with a pulled muscle in his right shoulder. He was later determined to have a tear, and Philadelphia subsequently put him on the 60-day injured list.

Babcock gets NHL clearance to return

The NHL announced Thursday that it has concluded its investigation into Mike Babcock and cleared him to return to coaching in the league.

"The league has completed its review of Mike Babcock's tenure in Columbus, and of certain alleged conduct associated therewith," the NHL said in a statement. "Our investigation has concluded that, even in a light least favorable to Mr. Babcock, there is no current basis to restrict his employment in the league."

Alphonso Davies to join Team Canada

Canada head coach Jesse Marsch says captain Alphonso Davies is available to play in his team's World Cup match against Qatar on Thursday.

Marsch provided the update to reporters, including TSN's Matthew Scianniti, following Canada's training session Wednesday. He added that the state of the game will dictate whether Davies sees the field at Vancouver Stadium.

Davies hasn't played since suffering the latest in a series of hamstring injuries with Bayern Munich in early May. He wasn't among the substitutes for Canada's 1-1 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the co-host's tournament opener, but since Marsch named his squad, the coach has been clear that he expects the star left-back to feature at some point during the competition.

Home Run Derby to ditch the clock format

For the first time in over a decade, the Home Run Derby is changing formats.

Major League Baseball will ditch the timed setup it's used since 2015 and bring back limited swings for each participant at this year's event in Philadelphia.

Sluggers will reportedly be allowed to take 20 swings in the first round and 15 in the second round and final while trying to hit as many homers as possible.

Sabres trade Kesselring to Sharks

The Buffalo Sabres are moving up seven spots in the 2026 NHL Draft after trading defenseman Michael Kesselring to the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday.

The Sabres dealt Kesselring and the 27th overall pick to the Sharks for the No. 20 selection, the teams announced.

Buffalo acquired Kesselring and Josh Doan from the Utah Mammoth last offseason in exchange for JJ Peterka. Kesselring was widely considered the centerpiece of the return at the time, but his lone season with the Sabres didn't go as planned.

Trae Young may decline his player option

Washington Wizards guard Trae Young appears set to hit the market as he plans to decline his $48.97-million player option for next season.

The Wizards remain the front runner for Young's services, but the four-time All-Star expects to attract interest from multiple teams, Spears reports.

Brunson & Hart throw first pitch at Yankee Stadium

The New York Knicks’ victory tour following their first NBA championship since 1973 made another stop Wednesday night when Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart threw out ceremonial first pitches at Yankee Stadium.

Before the Yankees played the Chicago White Sox, Brunson and Hart were met with a standing ovation and loud cheers from fans as they took the field to a montage of highlights from the title run.

Standing in front of the mound and wearing Yankees pinstripes, Brunson made his toss to backup catcher J.C. Escarra while Hart threw to utilityman Max Schuemann.

Leafs hire Jim Hiller as next head coach

The Toronto Maple Leafs have tabbed Jim Hiller as their next head coach, the team announced Wednesday.

Hiller posted a 93-58-24 record as head coach of the Los Angeles Kings for parts of the last three campaigns before being fired in March. The Kings lost to the Edmonton Oilers in Round 1 of the 2024 and 2025 playoffs under his guidance.

Messi all time scoring record

No man in history has scored more World Cup goals than Lionel Messi.

On the same night he became the first player to feature in six World Cups, the Argentina icon made an indelible mark on this summer's competition by recording the first World Cup hat-trick of his career in the Albiceleste's 3-0 win over Algeria on Tuesday.

The three goals moved him to 16 all time at the World Cup, level with former Germany striker Miroslav Klose for the most in tournament history.
