Maple Leafs are interviewing Patrick Roy

The Toronto Maple Leafs will interview Patrick Roy and Peter Laviolette for their heading coaching vacancy this week.

Roy led the New York Islanders to a 42-31-5 record this year before being fired with four games left in the season in favor of Peter DeBoer. Roy coached the Islanders for three seasons. In 2024, he guided them to the playoffs, where they lost to the Carolina Hurricanes in Round 1.

The Hall of Fame goaltender previously coached the Colorado Avalanche from 2013-16. He won the Jack Adams Award in 2014 for leading an upstart Avalanche squad to a 112-point season and a playoff appearance. However, Colorado failed to make the postseason in his final two years with the club.

Vegas wins Game 1 of Stanley Cup final

The Vegas Golden Knights beat the Carolina Hurricanes 5-4 in Tuesday's Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Thomas Hertl netted the game-winning goal with 3:24 left - recording his fourth of the postseason.

Aaron Judge out with bone bruise

New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Cleveland Guardians due to a bone bruise in his rib, manager Aaron Boone revealed.

Judge had been playing through "some more shoulder soreness" over the last few weeks, Boone said.

Falcons sign Drake London

The Atlanta Falcons are signing wide receiver Drake London to a four-year, $141-million contract extension.

The deal can reach $150 million with incentives and includes $100 million guaranteed, Schefter adds. The contract makes London the third-highest-paid wide receiver in the league.

Steelers sign Herbig

The Pittsburgh Steelers and pass-rusher Nick Herbig agreed to a four-year, $100-million extension.

The new contract reportedly contains $42 million in guaranteed money.

Jacob deGrom earns 100th career win

Jacob deGrom tossed five scoreless innings to earn his 100th career win and Ezequiel Duran had three hits as the Texas Rangers beat the St. Louis Cardinals 2-1 on Monday night.

A two-time NL Cy Young Award winner, the 37-year-old deGrom (4-4) allowed four hits and struck out eight in his fourth attempt at the milestone victory. The right-hander went 1-3 with a 5.72 ERA in five May starts and has not won this season when allowing multiple runs.

Canucks hire Manny Malhotra as head coach

The Vancouver Canucks hired Manny Malhotra as the 23rd head coach in franchise history, the team announced Monday.

Malhotra was head coach of the Abbotsford Canucks, Vancouver's AHL affiliate. He guided the team to a Calder Cup championship in 2025.

Abbotsford fell to 29th in the AHL last season and missed the playoffs. Malhotra worked with Vancouver's new general manager, Ryan Johnson, for the past two years in Abbotsford.

Eagles trade A.J. Brown to Patriots

The Philadelphia Eagles traded three-time Pro Bowl receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots for a 2028 first-round pick and 2027 fifth-round selection, the team announced Monday.

Brown will reunite with head coach Mike Vrabel in New England. Vrabel coached Brown from 2019 to 2021 with the Tennessee Titans before the club sent him to the Eagles for first and third-round selections.

Maple Leafs hire Blackett as Assistant GM

The Toronto Maple Leafs hired Judd Brackett as their assistant general manager, the team announced Monday.

Brackett spent the past five seasons as the Minnesota Wild's director of amateur scouting and previously served as a scout for the Vancouver Canucks for 12 years.

The new hire marks general manager John Chayka's first addition to Toronto's front office since joining the team in May.

There's a growing belief around baseball that the Tigers will move Skubal before the Aug. 3 trade deadline.
