Ozzie Albies fractures left hand

Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies left Monday's game against the Washington Nationals due to a fractured hamate bone in his left hand.

Albies showed discomfort in his wrist after fouling off a pitch in the third inning while batting against Washington right-hander Konnor Pilkington. He stayed in the game for one more pitch before walking toward the dugout and being attended to by Atlanta's training staff. Nick Allen finished Albies' at-bat and replaced him at second base at the start of the fourth inning.

Charlie Morton signs with the Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves signed veteran pitcher Charlie Morton to a major-league contract Monday, a day after the right-hander was designated for assignment and released by Detroit.

Braves manager Brian Snitker did not say if the 41-year-old Morton will pitch for the Braves in the final week of the season. Snitker said Morton will be in Atlanta on Tuesday.

"I don't know what (the plan is) until we get him here and talk through everything," Snitker said. "We don't really have a plan. We got him back. I don't know what that plan would be. I talked to him Saturday afternoon before batting practice (in Detroit). It wasn't even on the radar."

Will Shedeur Sanders start for Browns

Deion Sanders believes his son Shedeur Sanders will have the opportunity to start for the Cleveland Browns in 2025.

"Be patient and be ready," Deion told the "New Heights" podcast when asked for the best advice he's given Shedeur so far. The Colorado coach added, "You got to be ready when it's time. But when it's time, you're going to know.

"And it's coming up. I got a prediction. I ain't telling nobody. I got a feeling when it's going to go down. But it's going to go down this year. ... He's going to get a shot."

David Pastrnak battles knee injury

David Pastrnak joined his teammates at Boston Bruins training camp for the first time Monday and said the week he took off the ice to deal with knee tendinitis is nothing to be concerned about.

"I played with that the whole year last year, so I wouldn't be too worried about it, obviously," Pastrnak said, per NHL.com's Amalie Benjamin. "I spent a lot of time in the summer to make it better, and it did get much better than it was last year. Obviously it wasn't perfect (and) it's not perfect yet, so it was perfect timing to try to get it even better - it already got better.

"Like I said, nothing too concerning. It's just something that's nagging me for a very long time."

CeeDee Lamb out 3-4 weeks with ankle sprain

Dallas Cowboys wideout CeeDee Lamb is unlikely to play against the Green Bay Packers after suffering a high ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bears, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Lamb could miss 3-4 weeks with the injury, sources told Todd Archer of ESPN.

The Cowboys would like to see how Lamb is doing over the next 10-14 days before making any further decisions on his status.

Lamb appeared to suffer the injury after his left ankle seemingly got trapped under the leg of Bears linebacker Noah Sewell during a tackle. The Cowboys star re-entered the game in the second quarter after being attended to by team trainers on the sideline. However, he limped back off the field after one play and did not return for the remainder of the game.

Nick Bosa out for the season with torn ACL

San Francisco 49ers' star pass-rusher Nick Bosa will miss the rest of the 2025 season after suffering a torn ACL, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

This marks Bosa's second ACL tear in the same knee, with the first occurring in a Week 2 game in 2020, according to Schefter.

Bosa went down in the first quarter of Sunday's win over the Arizona Cardinals. He appeared to signal the seriousness of the injury with a thumbs-down gesture to the crowd on the way to the locker room.

James Conner season ending ankle surgery

Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner will undergo season-ending surgery on an ankle injury suffered Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Conner was carted to the locker room during Arizona's 16-15 loss. He went down after a rushing attempt in the third quarter and was officially ruled out minutes later.

Nick Bosa suffers knee injury

San Francisco 49ers edge rusher Nick Bosa suffered a knee injury Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals and was eventually ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Bosa appeared to injure himself when he was taken to the ground in the first quarter.

CeeDee Lamb ruled out due to injury

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears after sustaining an ankle injury.

Lamb hurt his ankle in the first quarter. He came back for one play before bowing out for good.
