Buffalo Bills interview Philip Rivers for Head Coach

The Buffalo Bills interviewed Philip Rivers for their vacant head coaching job, the team confirmed Friday.

Rivers, 44, came out of retirement this season to be the Indianapolis Colts' quarterback after an injury to starter Daniel Jones. He is currently the head coach at St. Michael Catholic High School and has held the job since 2021. He's compiled a 43-15 record during his tenure.

The Bills are the first team to interview him in this year's head coaching cycle. If he gets the job, Rivers would be the first full-time NFL head coach without previous college or pro coaching experience since 1961, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Colts hired Jeff Saturday on an interim basis with the same lack of experience in 2022.

Dominguez agrees to 2 Years with White Sox

The Chicago White Sox and right-handed reliever Seranthony Domínguez agreed to a two-year, $20-million contract, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Domínguez, 31, authored a 3.16 ERA and 3.47 FIP over 67 appearances between the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays last year.

He's expected to close for the White Sox, Passan adds.

Rodman signs 3 year contract with Washington Spirit

Forward Trinity Rodman agreed to a three-year contract to remain with the Washington Spirit, ending months of speculation about the Olympic gold medalist's future in the National Women's Soccer League.

"I think I've always had a vision and an idea of what I wanted my legacy to be," Rodman said at an event announcing her new deal Thursday in Los Angeles. "And for me, we're doing that and I'm so grateful for that."

The speculation over Rodman's future with the Spirit spurred criticism of the NWSL salary cap and whether it hampered the league from attracting and maintaining top players.

The 23-year-old Rodman became a free agent at the end of last season after five years with the Spirit. One of the biggest stars in the NWSL, keeping her in the league was considered vitally important as other U.S. national team stars, including Naomi Girma and Alyssa Thompson, opted to play in Europe.

Scheffler fires 63 to open American Express

The idea for Scottie Scheffler was to get a gauge on his game at The American Express, and all appeared to be in good working order Thursday. He made birdies on half of his holes for a 9-under 63 to join a parade of low scores that left him one shot out of the lead.

Min Woo Lee and Pierceson Coody led the way at 10-under 62 on the Nicklaus Tournament course at PGA West, the easiest of the three on the rotation. Scheffler played at La Quinta, where he didn't miss a green until the 17th hole. He chipped that in for birdie.

Will Kraken trade Shane Wright?

The Seattle Kraken are open to hearing out trade offers for center Shane Wright, according to TSN's Darren Dreger.

Seattle general manager Jason Botterill is reportedly in no rush to move Wright and has set the price incredibly high.

The Kraken are willing to use their young center depth to land an impact winger, Dreger adds. Seattle has selected a center with its top draft pick in four of its five years as a franchise.

FBI Investigation of Jim Irsay death

The Indianapolis Colts confirmed Thursday that the FBI are investigating the death of former team owner Jim Irsay, according to ESPN's Stephen Holder.

The investigation centers on the potential involvement of Irsay's recovery doctor, Dr. Harry Haroutunian, who reportedly provided him with prescription pain pills and ketamine in his final months, Holder adds.

The FBI is seeking information about Irsay's death, his substance use, and his relationship with Haroutunian, according to a federal grand jury subpoena reviewed by Will Hobson, Albert Samaha, and Sam Fortier of The Washington Post.

Ravens hire Jesse Minter

The Baltimore Ravens are hiring Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter as their next head coach, the team announced Thursday.

"I am truly honored to serve as the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens," Minter said in a statement. "This is an organization whose values, culture, and tradition of excellence reflect everything I believe about the game of football and how it should be played."

The Ravens are giving Minter a five-year contract, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Texas Rangers land MacKenzie Gore

The Washington Nationals are trading starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore to the Texas Rangers, reports Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

The Rangers will send five prospects to the Nationals as part of the deal, including 2025 No. 12 pick Gavin Fien, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

In addition to the third baseman, right-hander Alejandro Rosario, first baseman Abimelec Ortiz, infielder Devin Fitz-Gerald, and outfielder Yeremy Cabrera will reportedly join Washington.

Gore posted a 4.17 ERA with 3.74 FIP and 185 strikeouts over 159 2/3 innings last year en route to earning his first All-Star selection. The southpaw has two years of club control left.

Bucks have lost team chemistry

Giannis Antetokounmpo says chemistry issues may be contributing to the Milwaukee Bucks' recent penchant for lopsided losses.

The Bucks fell 122-102 on Wednesday to an Oklahoma City team that was missing a handful of rotation players due to injuries. The Bucks have dropped four of their last five games. Each of their last three losses was decided by at least 18 points.

Antetokounmpo was asked after the game against Oklahoma City if he sees any common threads to the blowout defeats.

Cowboys looking to hire Christian Parker

The Dallas Cowboys are working to hire Christian Parker as their new defensive coordinator, sources told Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Parker, 34, spent the past two seasons as the Philadelphia Eagles' passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach on coordinator Vic Fangio's staff. He previously spent multiple years with the Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos as an assistant.

Parker had a "very impressive" in-person interview with the Cowboys on Wednesday, sources told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
