The Columbus Blue Jackets signed forward Charlie Coyle to a six-year contract extension with a $6-million average annual value, the team announced Tuesday.
Coyle was set to be one of the top unrestricted free agent centers available July 1. His previous contract carried a $5.25-million cap hit.
The 34-year-old netted 20 goals and 58 points while playing all 82 games this season. Coyle ranked fourth on the Blue Jackets in scoring.
