Another Presidents trophy for Colorado

The Colorado Avalanche clinched the 2025-26 Presidents' Trophy as the NHL's top regular-season team after defeating the Calgary Flames 2-1 on Thursday.

This is the fourth time the Avs have claimed the award as the regular-season leader in points and first since the pandemic-shortened 2020-21 campaign. Their four Presidents' Trophies are tied with the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers for the second most. The Detroit Red Wings top the list with six.

The Presidents' Trophy was introduced for the 1985-86 season, and only eight teams have ever won the Presidents' Trophy and the Stanley Cup in the same year. The 2013 Chicago Blackhawks are the most recent team to claim both.
