The Atlanta Braves picked up right-hander Erick Fedde and cash from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for a player to be named later or cash, the clubs announced Sunday.
The Braves made the trade for Fedde after transferring starter Grant Holmes to the 60-day injured list with an elbow injury. Atlanta now has all five members of its starting rotation from the Opening Day roster sidelined.
The Cardinals will cover the majority of what remains of Fedde's $7.5-million salary, a source told Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.
