Alex Ovechkin scores 900th Career Goal

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin ventured into previously uncharted territory Wednesday against the St. Louis Blues, becoming the first player in NHL history to join the 900-goal club.

The 40-year-old scooped up a loose puck and backhanded it into the net with Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington out of position.

Ovechkin surpassed Wayne Gretzky as the NHL's all-time leading goal-scorer with his 895th tally last season. He scored a remarkable 44 goals in 65 games, missing time with a broken leg early in the season.
