Sharks sign Nurse

The Edmonton Oilers traded defenseman Darnell Nurse to the San Jose Sharks for a package including blue-liner Shakir Mukhamadullin and prospect Zack Sharp, the teams announced Wednesday.

The Oilers aren't retaining any of Nurse's $9.25-million cap hit. He has four seasons remaining on his contract.

Nurse requested a trade after 12 seasons with Edmonton and had to approve San Jose as a destination due to his no-movement clause. He recorded 24 points in 82 games this past campaign and posted the second-worst plus-minus of his career at minus-12.
