Pirates continue to chase Suarez

The Pittsburgh Pirates might be turning their attention to another free-agent third baseman after missing out on signing Kazuma Okamoto.

Pittsburgh has kept tabs on Eugenio Suárez and remains interested in signing the 34-year-old after Okamoto inked a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays, reports Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Suárez tied his career high with 49 homers last season while splitting his time between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Seattle Mariners. His 118 RBIs ranked fourth in the majors and would have been tops on the Pirates by a wide margin - Bryan Reynolds led Pittsburgh with 73 RBIs in 2025.
