Red Sox chasing Freddy Peralta

The Boston Red Sox are aggressively pursuing a top-level starter via trade after failing to re-sign Alex Bregman, sources told WEEI's Rob Bradford.

Freddy Peralta is one player the Red Sox have spoken to the Milwaukee Brewers about, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. Boston's front office is also high on free-agent left-hander Ranger Suárez and met with fellow southpaw Framber Valdez in November.

The Red Sox feature a starting rotation of Garrett CrochetBrayan BelloPatrick Sandoval, and offseason acquisitions Sonny Gray and Johan Oviedo. Acquiring one of Peralta, Suárez, or Valdez would be a significant upgrade while providing considerable depth.
