Knights talk Jack Eichel contract

The Vegas Golden Knights are having ongoing extension talks with franchise center Jack Eichel, and the two sides are focused on an eight-year pact, reports TSN's Pierre LeBrun.

Eichel reportedly has no intention of leaving Vegas.

The NHL record eight-year, $136-million contract signed by Kirill Kaprizov and the two-year, $25-million extension recently signed by Connor McDavid aren't affecting negotiations between Eichel and the Golden Knights, LeBrun added.

Eichel is in the final season of an eight-year, $80-million contract he signed with the Buffalo Sabres in 2017. Vegas acquired him in a 2021 trade with Buffalo.

The 28-year-old recorded a career-high 94 points last season, finishing fifth in both Hart Trophy and Selke Trophy voting. He helped the Golden Knights capture the 2023 Stanley Cup with a league-best 26 points in 22 games that postseason.
