The New York Yankees are exploring the trade market for starting pitching and have engaged in discussions with the Washington Nationals about left-hander MacKenzie Gore, reports MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.
New York also discussed Freddy Peralta with the Milwaukee Brewers and performed background work on Edward Cabrera before the Miami Marlins traded him to the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday, according to Hoch.
Gore, 26, has been a solid performer for poor Nationals teams over the past three seasons after debuting with the San Diego Padres in 2022. The southpaw owns a 4.19 ERA, 4.02 FIP, and 10.0 K/9 throughout his career.
