Canada captain Crosby won't suit up for Sunday's gold-medal game against the United States due to the injury he sustained in the quarterfinal.
Crosby missed Canada's semifinal win over Finland on Friday after being injured in Wednesday's contest and was labeled a game-time decision for the tournament finale. Head coach Jon Cooper said Saturday that Crosby wouldn't dress for the matchup if he couldn't make an impact.
Crosby notched six points in four games before the injury. He traveled to Milan in search of his third Olympic gold medal, having previously helped Canada win in 2010 and 2014. Crosby and teammate Doughty would be the first NHLers to capture three gold medals if Canada defeats the USA.
