Cam Whitmore out indefinitely

Washington Wizards wing Cam Whitmore has been diagnosed with upper-extremity deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder and will be out indefinitely, the team announced Tuesday.

Whitmore has missed Washington's last six games. He was re-evaluated after dealing with shoulder soreness during the last two.

The 21-year-old Maryland native joined the Wizards in an offseason trade from the Houston Rockets, with whom he spent his first two NBA seasons. Rockets general manager Rafael Stone said he dealt Whitmore to Washington "to provide him an opportunity to go home and be in a situation where he could really play" as Houston shifted its focus toward contention with marquee offseason addition Kevin Durant.
