The Boston Red Sox acquired right-hander Johan Oviedo from the Pittsburgh Pirates in a five-player deal, the teams announced Thursday.
Oviedo posted a 3.57 ERA in nine starts for the Pirates last season, striking out 42 hitters in 40 1/3 innings. The 27-year-old missed the 2024 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
